Poetry Day

Parable of Faith

Now, in twilight, on the palace steps
the king asks forgiveness of his lady.

He is not
duplicitous; he has tried to be
true to the moment; is there another way of being
true to the self?

The lady
hides her face, somewhat
assisted by shadows. She weeps
for her past; when one has a secret life,
one's tears are never explained.

Yet gladly would the king bear
the grief of his lady: his
is the generous heart,
in pain as in joy.

Do you know
what forgiveness mean? It means
the world has sinned, the world
must be pardoned --

NaNoWriMo

I just joined NaNoWriMo - I'd wanted to do this last year and forgot and almost forgot it started today. So. . . in case you don't know NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. The goal of participants is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight of November 30th. I haven't been writing every day for the past few months which had been one of my goals. I'm hoping this will help push me a little. This is from the NaNoWriMo write-up: Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.

One of my problems in writing is that I tend to edit and criticize myself intensely during the process. What I really need is to let myself write junk and accept it. To keep moving the pen (or keys) and ignore the voices in my head. So hopefully I'll be able to do that this month. If you're interested click on the link above and join!

It isn't me!

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they’re okay, then it’s you. ~Rita Mae Brown

I have a daily quote gadget on my Google homepage and this was the quote for today. Since everyone I know is nuts I think that means that I'm fine! I was quite relieved to find this out. The only problem is apparently I have something wrong with my hearing. For years I thought they were saying I was crazy, I guess they were saying they were . . .

So that was the thought for today. I'd post more but I'm recovering from a 1-1/2 hr car trip with 2 cats. One of them meowed, loudly, almost the entire time. Now they are both hiding under my bed. Hopefully they'll recover but I'm not sure I will!

Musical Monday

Since I mentioned The Partridge Family a few weeks ago I thought I'd post one of their songs this week. I used to have a record album of their music. I don't know what happened to it but I bet it'd be worth a fortune now! Isn't David Cassidy cute!
